Select your shades
The easiest way to get an ombré on brown hair is to use a hair lightener like LIVE Absolute Platinum or Max Blonde. Lighteners will help lift the colour on the end of your hair to give you the dark to lighter transition - the one you choose will depend on your natural base tone and how light you’re looking to go. The level of lift you will achieve will depend on how dark your hair is and whether or not your hair is already coloured. To discuss this or for personalised ombré advice, give our Schwarzkopf Advisory team a call on 0800 328 9214.
Start with dry, clean hair and get familiar with the Instruction Leaflet - don’t forget to perform a strand test (you can read more about how to do a strand test here).
Decide on your line
Next up, decide where you want your ombré to begin. This will depend on you hair length, but just below the jawline is usually a good place for your colour transition to begin for longer hair. If you have shorter hair, you may want your ombré to begin about ⅔ of the way down for a natural looking style.
If you’re colouring the top of your hair with a different colour as well, now’s the time to apply the colour to the top half of your hair (with gloves on!). If not, go straight to step 5.
Now apply one of our Intense Lighteners to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, lightly smudging the two colours together for a natural colour blend.
Wait for 30 minutes for the colour to develop, then rinse your hair until the water’s running clear and finish with the in-pack conditioner for a beautiful and glossy shine.
Voila - your brown ombré look has arrived. Style your tresses in textured waves to show off that statement brown ombré hair!
